We're setting sail for VBS fun!

Greetings from High Seas Expedition, where we're setting sail to explore the mighty love of God! About 50 children and 25 adults are gathering this week to learn about the amazing ways God works in our lives:

GOD'S WORD IS TRUE!  People who didn't believe in Jesus threw Peter in prison for sharing the good news, but God sent an angel to free Peter from prison. It seems unbelievable, but like other things we read in the Bible, this story is true!

GOD'S WORD IS COMFORTING!  Paul was persecuted for telling others about Jesus, but when his ship encountered a terrible storm, God comforted him and gave him the strength to comfort others and weather the storm.

GOD'S WORD IS SURPRISING!  When Paul finds himself shipwrecked on an island, he is bitten by a poisonous snake. The people living on the island were sure Paul would die, but he shook the snake into the fire and went about his business. He was able to share the love of God with many people on the island.

GOD'S WORD IS LIFE-CHANGING!  When Peter and John are traveling near the Temple Gate, a crippled person asks them for some coins. Instead, they heal him in the name of Jesus, and the man jumps up, walks and praises God. This draws a crowd, and Peter and John are able to teach many people about Jesus that day.

GOD'S WORD IS FOR EVERYONE!  After Jesus died, the first Christians relied on each other for everything. They were a small group of people, but they did big things, devoting themselves to teaching, fellowship and sharing. The early church was a community that many wanted to become a part of, and we can be that kind of church today.
