Caring Connection
The Caring Connection is a congregational support ministry that was established to help the members of Salem assist each other in times of need. Our primary goal is to help and support the congregation with this responsibility so that all the members of Salem feel connected and cared for. However, there are often needs or crises that are beyond the scope of individual support and the caring connection was created to be the liaison during these times.
Most of our support is through providing meals/gift cards for members who are ill or have prolonged hospital stays; however, our committee is prepared to help with any request from transportation to fundraising.
The Caring Connection is also responsible for the distribution of communion to members who are unable to attend and receive the sacrament at our church services. We have trained members who volunteer to distribute communion at a member's request.
At Salem, members also stay connected by a devoted group of prayer warriors. They are contacted either by phone, answering machine or email. One coordinator sends prayer requests through the phone link and the other coordinator passes along prayer requests through the email link. Prayer requests can go directly to either of these coordinators, through the church office or in the offering plate during services. A current list of prayer requests for the congregation and our extended family is provided in the Beacon each month. A prayer chain coordinator updates this list monthly.
Salem is mindful about the needs of our members and the Caring Connection ministry strives to keep our members connected to and thus cared for by one another.
